MARTHA STEWART CRAFTS PAINT

Product Development | Design | Marketing

ONE PAINT. ALL SURFACES.

Martha Stewart Crafts Paint was the first craft paint on the market that was truly all-surface. In a partnership with Plaid Enterprises, Martha Stewart launched the line exclusively with Michaels. In the years that followed, we rolled the brand out to QVC and JoAnn.

I was the lead product designer/developer on the product line, in charge of testing, working with, and strategizing the use cases for the product and how best to market it through how-to videos, packaging, and in-store signage.

BLUE SKY, OH MY!

The entire line included 180 bottles with satin/gloss, metallic, glitter, glow-in-the dark, and chalkboard finishes. I also helped develop accompanying tools and stencils.

My role in development included acting as product tester and working with the chemist on fine-tuning the effects of each of these finishes to meet brand standards.

On the marketing-side, I worked on educating the consumer on how each of these products should be utilized. This meant leading a team of freelancers on creating the in-store signage, packaging, and creating the vision board for our photography.

After the success of the initial craft paint line, I led the extensions and launches into glass paint and jewelry.
